Pet Adoption Program — Finding responsible and loving owners for homeless dogs and cats is the heart of our work at St. Hubert's. The decision to acquire a pet should be made carefully, and St. Hubert's adoption counselors work closely with potential owners to find animal companions that will suit their lifestyles and preferences. All pets are spayed or neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, and bathed and groomed before heading to their new homes.

Animal Rescue & Control — Being there for animals in need is a very important service provided by St. Hubert's to both the animals and their owners. Our caring and professional staff attends to the needs of approximately 4,500 cats, dogs and small wildlife every year. Our state-certified animal control officers are on call 24 hours a day to respond to companion animal emergencies within the many municipalities we serve.

Lost & Found — St. Hubert's staff take complete reports on lost pets to compare with animals in the shelter and any incoming animals. St. Hubert's also provides advice on how to plan for if you and your pet become separated.

Humane Education — Thousands of students each year participate in education classes designed to instill humane attitudes in children. By teaching youngsters about animals and their needs, St. Hubert's aims to create an environment in which animals are respected, appreciated and protected. Thirty presentations focus on companion animal care and the human-animal bond, along with wildlife and the environment.

Paws for People — Animals can help people feel better both physically and emotionally, and more children and adults were touched by St. Hubert's animal-assisted therapy program in 1997 than ever before in the organization's history. Trained volunteers and their certified pets make the rounds every day in hospitals and long-term health care facilities. Paws for People enables many who would not otherwise be exposed to animals a chance to enjoy the benefits of interaction with well-behaved pets.

Pet Loss Therapy — For most people, losing a beloved pet is as difficult as losing a best friend or family member. Facilitated by professional counselors, St. Hubert's free pet loss therapy sessions offer understanding, guidance and support in a group setting. People grieving the loss or impending death of a pet continue to find solace in the group's comfortable surroundings.  Sessions are held the first and third Tuesday of the month from 7:30 - 9:00 at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Avenue, Madison, NJ.
