DISCOUNTS

St. Hubert's Adopter, senior citizen, continuing education and St. Hubert's Dog Sports Club Member discounts are applicable to all classes with tuition of more than $150.  No discounts are applicable to private training and/or behavior counseling, workshops or seminars.  Discounts may not be combined.

St. Hubert's Adopters
$55 discount in tuition if your dog was adopted from St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center. Please send a copy of your adoption agreement with registration.    If registering on-line please bring a copy of the agreement to your first class.

Senior Citizens
$30 discount in tuition for seniors 62 years and older.   Please send proof of age with registration.  If you are registering on-line, please bring proof of age to your first class.

Continuing Education Discount
$25 discount in tuition if you register for the next level of training within 30 days of graduation.  After 30 days, discount no longer applies. 

St. Hubert's Dog Sports Club Members
$20 discount in tuition for active members. 

Refund Policy:  Tuition will be refunded only if registrant cancels registration no later than 7 days prior to the start of class.

Private Training and Behavioral Counseling
  • If the classroom setting is not right for you, we offer private one-on-one training. We have a qualified staff to help you train your dog at home or deal with specific behavior problems such as poor household manners, housesoiling, destruction, and much more. Our team has also developed very successful protocols for behavior modification programs to help owners deal with their dog's problems relating to separation anxiety, aggression or fearful behaviors. The cost ranges from $100 at St. Hubert's for private training and $175 for an initial behavioral consultation. Subsequent behavioral sessions are $125 per hour. In-home behavioral consultations also available. Please call for rates.
   


General Pet Training
Kindergarten Puppy
  • This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 puppies that are between the ages of 8-18 weeks when the course begins. This is the best possible way to get your puppy started. We'll give you tips on socialization, household manners, housetraining, puppy mouthing as well as teach basic behaviors, such as sit, down, come, loose leash walking, and much more. Cost is $225.
   

NEW Kindergarten Puppy (BRIDGEWATER AREA)
  • These classes will be held at Camp Bow Wow Bridgewater. This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 puppies that are between the ages of 8-18 weeks when the course begins. This is the best possible way to get your puppy started. We'll give you tips on socialization, household manners, housetraining, puppy mouthing as well as teach basic behaviors, such as sit, down, come, loose leash walking, and much more. Petite Puppies
  • This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 puppies that are between the ages of 10-24 weeks when the course begins. The course is limited to toy and small breeds only. This is the best possible way to get your puppy started. We'll give you tips on socialization, household manners, housetraining, puppy mouthing as well as teach basic behaviors, such as sit, down, come, loose leash walking, and much more. Cost is $225. We will help you establish a healthy, long-lasting relationship using the most innovative reward-based training techniques. Behaviors taught are sit, down, stay, come, heel, wait, leave it, sit for petting, and more. Cost is $225.
   

Basic Training (BRIDGEWATER AREA) NEW
  • These classes will be held at Camp Bow Wow Bridgewater. This 8-week course is limited to 8-10 dogs that are 5 months or older when the course begins. Petite Pals
  • This 8-week basic training course is limited to 8 to 10 dogs and is specifically designed for dogs 30 lbs. or less. You will train your dog in an environment designed to make learning more enjoyable and comfortable for a small dog. Behaviors taught are sit, down, stay, come, heel, wait, leave it, back up, sit for petting and more. Cost is $225.
   

Around Town
  • This 4-week mini-course is for dogs that have graduated from a Basic or Petite Pals course. Each week, your instructor will take you on a field trip around town to help you and your dog become more proficient with the exercises that you learned in the basic course, as well as get you ready for Off Leash Wonders. The course will be customized to the needs of each student to help you and your dog achieve success. Cost is $115.
   

Off Leash Wonders
  • This 8-week course is limited to 8 dogs and open to any dog that has completed the Basic or Petite Pals course. A dog who frolics and plays off lead is a joy to watch, but can end in disaster if he is not reliably listening to his best friend - you! This course focuses on emergency cues to stop your dog from running into the street, calling your dog off moving objects and much more. Cost is $225.

The Great Outdoors
  • This 6-week course is limited to 6 dogs and open to any dog that has completed the Off Leash Wonders course. You will expand upon what you learned in the other courses by working on emergency cues and transferring from indoor training to outdoor reliability, in a safe, contained area at our shelter on Woodland Avenue. Cost is $170. DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

How to Stop Unnecessary Barking
  • Quiet!!! Please!!! Are you saying this way too often and not getting the desired result? Learn why your dog is barking and how to “put a lid” on this nuisance behavior. Note: Humans only—please leave your dog at home. Cost is $30. DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Housetraining 101
  • Do you have a new puppy, a newly adopted dog or a dog that is having “accidents” once in a while? If so, the information you provide during this session will enable the instructor to help pinpoint exactly what might be wrong. You will return home armed with instructions to get your dog “going” outdoors and NOT on your carpets! Note: Humans only—please leave your dog at home. Cost is $30. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   


Specialty Pet Training
Rompin’ Rovers (dogs over 30 lbs.)
  • This play session meets on Saturdays at 11:45am is open to any dog six months or older who has GRADUATED from a St Hubert’s Basic training course. If you would like to give your dog a chance to burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other well-socialized dogs, this is for you. The play sessions are held outdoors at our shelter located at 575 Woodland Avenue in a contained area and supervised by an instructor. All dogs must be able lie down in the presence of other dogs and be under control at all times. You will have a chance to practice what you taught your dog in Basic throughout the play sessions. The reward for good behavior is PLAY! Please note: To insure the safety of everyone, this class is NOT appropriate for any dog that has, at any time, displayed fear or aggression toward other dogs or people. If you have any question about the appropriateness of this class for your dog, please call for an evaluation. If we feel your dog is not a candidate for Romping Rovers, we offer private training to prepare your dog for this type of environment. Please call (973) 377-0116 for rates and to register.
   

Playful Pups (Small) NEW!
  • This 4-week play group lets your small breed puppy burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other puppies! Supplement your puppy’s socialization during the cold winter months. These supervised play sessions are for puppies that are currently enrolled in a Puppy Kindergarten or Petite Puppies class and are 6 months and younger. Playful Pups
  • This 4-week play group lets your puppy burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other puppies! Supplement your puppy’s socialization during the cold winter months. These supervised play sessions are for puppies that are currently enrolled in a Puppy Kindergarten or Petite Puppies class and are 6 months and younger. Cost is $60.00
   

Tiny Tots (dogs under 30 lbs.)
  • This 6-week play session is open to any dog six months or older who is currently enrolled in, or has graduated from a St. Hubert’s Basic or Petite Pals training course. If you would like to give your dog a chance to burn off that extra energy by running and playing with other well-socialized dogs, this course is for you. The play sessions are held indoors at the Dog Training School on 22 Prospect St in a contained area and supervised by an instructor. Please note: To insure the safety of everyone, please remember that this class is NOT appropriate for any dog who has, at any time, displayed fear or aggression toward other dogs or people. Feisty Fidos- Level 1
  • This 8-week course is limited to 6 dogs. If your dog has a bone to pick with other dogs (as a result of fear or otherwise), the basic pet class is not a conducive environment for him to learn in. This is a specialty course run by 2 instructors plus assistants. You will learn how to better read your dog's challenging postures, use proper handling skills, as well as techniques using desensitization and counter-conditioning. All dogs will be desensitized to wearing a muzzle due to the nature of the course. Cost is $300. (Special Equipment included)
   

Feisty Fidos On -Leash (Formally Level 2)
  • This 6-week session will be held outdoors at our shelter on 575 Woodland Avenue. STUDENTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED FEISTY FIDOS LEVEL 1. Cost is $185.
   

Feisty Fidos Off -Leash( formally level 3)
  • This 6-week off-leash session will be held outdoors at our shelter on 575 Woodland Avenue. STUDENTS MUST HAVE GRADUATED THE ON-LEASH COURSE (FORMERLY LEVEL 2). Cost is $185.
   


Sports Training
Rally and Obedience Private Sessions
  • If you feel you need extra help or would like to have one-on-one training to help resolve problems that cannot be dealt with in the classroom setting, we have a qualified staff to help. The cost of a one hour private session is $70.00.
   

Tracking
  • This 6 week, 8 hour course will introduce you to the exciting outdoor sport of tracking. In tracking, your dog will follow a scent left by a person walking through an area and find an article dropped by that person. Tracking is unique in dog sports in that the dog knows what to do and the handler must learn to read his/her dog and follow him/her. The first class will consist of a 2 hour seminar/orientation and 1 hour of work. The remaining 5 weeks are 1 hour long. Classes may meet at different locations - to be determined. Locations will be posted on the confirmation. Prerequisite: dogs must have graduated from a Basic class. Limited to 10 working teams. Cost is $165.
   

Tracking-Intermediate
  • This 6 week course will continue the training from the tracking class. Longer legs and turns will be introduced. Classes will meet at different locations. See confirmation for specific locations and dates. Limited to 10-working teams. Cost is $165. DATES TO BE ANNOUCED.
   

Herding Instinct
  • **** THE INSTINCT TEST FOR SUNDAY NOVEMBER 16 HAS BEEN CANCELLED IT WILL BE RESCHEDULED IN THE SPRING****** Gene Sheninger will give a seminar on Herding and Instinct, as well as a demonstration with his nationally ranked border collies, during the middle of the day. Herding Instinct Tests on sheep will be available for all entered dogs in the morning and afternoon. The seminar will be held indoors, and all instinct testing will take place outside.Certificates awarded to all tested dogs. No Experience Needed! Come, have fun, and see how your dog reacts to sheep! Cost is $95 (fee includes test, seminar and lunch). The next instinct testing will be Sunday, November 16 from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Testing Times to be assigned. Conformation Show Handling Run Thrus/Prob Solv
  • Conformation Show Handling Run-Thrus: Dates to be announced. Dog and Handler teams will be videotaped stacking and gaiting. Videos will be played back allowing for discussion of handling techniques, problem solving and class critique. Limit 6 dogs. Students can feel free to bring a crate, if they wish to quietly crate their dog during the playback/critique section of the class. Cost is $10 per dog. Dates to be announced
   

Rally Attention Games
  • This 6 week course is for ANYONE who wants better attention from their dog and better teamwork with their dog! Great for pet owners and a pre-requisite for Rally or Comp. Obed, you will learn games and techniques for both everyday and “in the ring” situations, both on-leash and off-leash. Cost is $165.00.
   

Rally Advanced Attention Games
  • This 6 week course takes your attention training to the next level. Distance work and advanced distraction work are the focus of this fun yet challenging class. This is a perfect ‘refresher’ class for anyone already working on rally or obedience titles. Cost is $165.00.
   

Rally I
  • This 6 week course will cover all the APDT Level 1 and AKC Novice class exercises. Short courses will also be run each week. Pre-requisite for those without rally or comp. obed experience is Attention Games. Cost is $165.00.
   

Rally I Ring Prep
  • This 6-week course will prepare you and your dog to compete in APDT Level 1 and AKC Novice. You will run courses, tips and strategy for competing will be discussed and we will polish and proof your performance using videotaped critiques. Cost is $165.00.
   

Rally II
  • This 6-week course will cover all the APDT Rally Level 2 exercises and the AKC Advanced class exercises. Cost is $165.00.
   

Rally II Ring Prep
  • This 6-week course will prepare you and your dog to compete in APDT Level 2 and AKC Advanced. You will run courses, polish and proof your performance, judging guidelines will be discussed, and videotaped critiques will be done. Cost is $165.00.
   

Rally III
  • This 6-week course will cover the APDT Level 3 exercises and the AKC Excellent exercises. Cost is $165.00
   

Rally III Ring Prep
  • This 6-week course will prepare you and your dog to compete in APDT Level 3 and AKC Excellent. You will run courses, polish and proof your performance, judging guidelines will be discussed and viedotaped critiques will be done. Cost is $165.00.
   

Rally AKC Run-Thrus (indoors)

Rally APDT Level 2 Jump Clinics
  • If you need some extra help mastering the Level 2 jump exercise, then you don’t want to miss this workshop! Cost is $35.00 per/working team.
   

Rally Practice Group
  • All levels, both APDT & AKC. This structured practice time includes problem solving and individual videotaping. Strictly limited to 8 teams. Cost is $10.
   

Rally APDT Level 3 Jump Clinics
  • This workshop is designed to help you and your dog master the ‘directed jumping’ APDT Level 3 jump exercise. Cost is $35.00 per/working team.
   

Rally Workshop-What Do I Do Now?
  • This workshop will teach you how to think on your feet and handle tricky situations and common errors that can occur in the ring. Cost is $35 per working team, strictly limited to 6 teams.

Competition Obedience Novice
  • This class is taught in 6-week ‘rounds’ and students may join at any time.The skills needed for mastering the Novice class exercises in CDSP, AKC and UKC obedience will be taught in this class. We will also introduce the retrieve. Cost is $165.
   

Competition Obedience Novice Ring Prep
  • • This class is taught in 6- week ‘rounds’ and students may join at any time.This class puts together all of the Novice skills and prepares you to compete in obedience trials. Judging guidelines for CDSP, AKC and UKC Novice classes will be discussed. We will videotape, polish and proof your performance and discuss tips and strategy for competing and how to make the most of match shows. Cost is $165.00 for each six week round.
   

Competition Obedience Open
  • This class is taught in 6-week ‘rounds’ and students may join at any time.The skills needed for mastering the Open class exercises in CDSP, AKC and UKC obedience will be taught in this class. Cost is $165.
   

Comp Ob Open Ring Prep
  • This class is taught in 6-week ‘rounds’ and students may join at any time. This class puts together all of the Open class skills. We will videotape, polish and proof the exercises, work on transitions, discuss judging guidelines for CDSP, AKC and UKC. Out of sight stays will be proofed and we will discuss tips and strategy for competing and how to make the most of match shows. Cost is $165.00.
   

Competition Obedience Utility
  • This class is taught in 6-week ‘rounds’ and students may join at any time. The skills needed for mastering the Utility class exercises in CDSP, AKC and UKC obedience will be taught in this class. Cost is $165.

  • All levels, CDSP, AKC & UKC. This structured practice time includes heeling, stays, distractions and problem solving. Strictly limited to 8 teams. Cost is $10.
   

Competition Obedience-What Do I Do Now?
  • This workshop will teach you how to handle tricky situations and common errors that can occur in the ring. Sept. 2 Novice , Sept. 16 Open , Sept. 30 Utility. Cost $35/working team, limited to 6 teams each workshop.

Agility - Puppy
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team whose long-term goal is to compete in agility or just have fun. This is a fun foundation course designed to introduce puppies and their parents to the basic concepts needed in the sport. Learning how to play, asking for attention, teaching targets, and discovering basic coordination, are among the topics covered. This course is for dogs less than one year of age. Cost is $160. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED
   

Agility - Beginner
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team whose long-term goal is to compete or learn a new sport. This course covers equipment, targeting concepts, and basic handling skills. This is a foundation course and will require homework to ensure the dog’s long term success. Prerequisite-dog and handler must be firm in all Basic commands and have graduated from an Advanced training course. Age reqirement is that the dog be 12 months or older. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Advanced Beginner
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team that has successfully completed the Agility Beginner Course. The focus will be on building confidence while moving most equipment up to regulation height. Basic handling skills and small sequences will be presented. Cost is $160. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility - Intermediate
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team continuing on from the Advanced Beginner Agility level. This course covers sequencing, polishing obstacle performance, building the dog’s confidence and enthusiasm, and introducing the handler to basic course analysis skills. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Advanced
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team that is continuing on from the Intermediate level. More difficult and longer sequences will be presented. Special attention will be paid to maintaining fast and accurate obstacle performance while using more advanced handling techniques. Handler will further develop course analysis, handling, and team communication skills. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Training for Competition Prep
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team that has successfully completed the Advanced course, but has not yet started competing. Emphasis will be on obstacle performance and handling skills, closing weave poles and proofing contact performance. Cost is $160. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility - Advanced: Training for Competition (ATC)
  • This 8-week class is geared to the dog/handler team that has successfully completed the Advanced course, but has not yet met the requirements for the Competition class. More difficult sequences and courses will challenge the dog/handler team. Emphasis will be on course analysis and handling skills. Pre-requisite is ATC Prep., or its equivalent with permission of the instructor. Cost is $160. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility - Competition
  • This 8-week course is geared to the dog/handler team currently competing or about to compete. Challenging sequences and courses will be presented. Handler will polish course analysis skills and begin applying advanced handling techniques. Cost is $160. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility - Improving Contacts Beg/Adv Beg
  • This two-hour (one day) workshop is geared for those who wish to get more practice on contact obstacles and improve performance. Learn how to perform the contact obstacles with accuracy and enthusiasm. Participants should be at the Beginner or Advanced Beginner level. Cost is $40.
   

Agility - Improving Contacts Intermed/Advanced
  • This two-hour (one day) workshop is geared for those who wish to improve their contact performance. Learn how to nail those contacts and perform them with speed and accuracy. Also covered will be proofing contacts. Participants should be at the Intermediate level or higher. Cost is $40. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility Handling Skills
  • This 8-week course is geared towards those who wish to improve overall handling skills. Course will cover topics such as timing of crosses, speed and accuracy in the weave poles, contact performance, distance handling, setting an efficient line, among other topics. Participants should be working at the Advanced level or higher. Cost is $160.
   

Agility Course Analysis
  • This 8-week class will help you understand how to analyze a course and use this knowledge to develop handling strategies that will allow you and your dog to be successful when running a course, based on your team’s skills. Each week will include both discussion and running of that evening’s course(s). Geared towards the Novice level handler. Cost is $160.
   

Agility - Distance Skills
  • This 8-week class will help you learn how to successfully direct your dog from a distance - how to get your dog to work ahead as well as laterally away from you. Agility - Coursework
  • This is a 4-week workshop. Each week different course challenges will be presented and strategies discussed before running the course(s). Learn how to set the most efficient path for your dog. Cost is $80.
   

Agility - Prep for Your First Agility Trial
  • This one-day 2 1/2 hour workshop will tell you everything you need to know before entering your first agility trial. By the conclusion of the workshop you will know how to complete the paperwork to enter a trial, what to expect at the trial, what to bring, how to prepare both you and your dog for your debut, and much, much more. This workshop is for the human part of the team - no dogs, please. Cost is $45. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility Foundation Skills
  • This 8-week class will help you and your dog learn the basic foundation skills so important in the sport. Get you and your dog started on the right foot to put you on the path to agility success. Cost is $165.
   

Agility - Finding the Pattern
  • This 2-week course is designed to help your dog recognize and perform patterns found on the agility course - serpentines, threadles, 180's, 270's, etc. Cost is $40. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility Obstacle Discrimination
  • This 4-week course is designed to help you and your dog in making the right decision when presented with obstacle choices. Cost is $85. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility – Masters/Excellent/Elite Course Strategies
  • This challenging 8-week class will help you determine a handling strategy for those Masters/Excellent/Elite courses. Learn how to analyze, walk, and successfully run the challenging courses you will see every weekend. Geared towards dogs competing in Advanced/Open and Masters/Excellent/Elite. Cost is $165. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility – Handling Skills for Elite/Excellent/Masters
  • This 6-week class will teach you the consistent handling skills that will help you and your dog be fast, focused and successful when running courses. This course will cover the challenges you will see in competition: crosses, discriminations, serpentines, threadles, distance work, lead-outs, closings, obstacle independence, course analysis, etc. Geared towards dogs competing at the Masters/Excellent/Elite level. Cost is $125.
   

Agility - Handling Skills for Novice/Open
  • This 6-week, 1 1/2 hour class will teach you the consistent handling skills that will help you and your dog be successful when running courses. This course will cover the challenges you will see in competition. Geared towards dogs competing at the Novice/Open level. Cost is $185.
   

Agility Teamwork
  • This 4-week course is designed to re-emphasize the concepts previously taught in pet training/obedience classes for those dogs that require extra assistance in remembering basic commands when in the exciting atmosphere of the agility environment. Dog/handler team must have successfully completed the Beginner agility course. Student/instructor ratio is 5:1. Cost is $80. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Junior Handler Agility
  • Agility - Jr. Handler Agility In this 6-week class your child will learn how to teach their canine companion basic agility skills such as running through a tunnel, hurdling jumps, and performing other fun agility obstacles. Children must be 10 years or older to handle the dog, and a parent must be in attendance during the class. **Please note all dogs must have graduated from from a Basic or Petite Pals course. ** Cost is $120. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
   

Agility Run-Thrus
  • This is a two-hour, one-evening session. Multiple courses will be available during the the evening. Levels will be Open & Novice / Level 1. May 13 - Standard/Regular followed by Jackpot. A total of 4 different courses will be set during the two-hour session. Cost is $15 for 2 runs. DATES TO BE ANNOUNCED.
