Humane Education: Make Kindness Contagious
St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center, in cooperation with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Animal Welfare Federation of New Jersey, and the Mid-Atlantic Regional Office of the Humane Society of the United States, has developed Make Kindness Contagious, a curriculum designed to introduce humane education into your elementary classroom. It is intended to guide you in providing a foundation for your students to become considerate, compassionate members of your school community and the community at large.
Make Kindness Contagious consists of three independent lessons focusing on safety, kindness and responsibility; a summary lesson and a resource list for teachers and students. Our lessons support the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards for language and literacy, mathematics, science, visual and performing arts, as well as health and physical education.
We also offer in conjunction with the curriculum:
Teacher workshops and guides provided free of charge |
Workshops are offered at your school |
Are you looking for lesson plans that advance academic skill development and support character education?
Make Kindness Contagious helps you to easily incorporate lessons in kindness, compassion and responsibility within your existing curriculum.
This program helps you:
Understand the correlation between violence and animal cruelty; |
Empower students to understand the consequences of their actions; |
Motivate students to learn in all academic areas while developing humane characteristics. |
Educators throughout New Jersey have discovered ways to Make Kindness Contagious by participating in workshops at the NJEA 2004 Convention, elementary schools statewide, Kean University, Rutgers University and the Juvenile Justice Commission.
