To qualify, candidates must be a graduate of St. Hubert's (or an approved alternate program)
Basic Obedience and Off Leash Wonders courses within the past 6 months.
Higher levels of training recommended and preferred. A variety of shifts are available including evenings and weekends.
Cleaners - (Madison & North Branch locations) Volunteers that are 16 years of age or older are needed to help us keep the shelter looking nice. Job duties include cleaning food and water bowls, restocking supplies, cleaning cat cages an kennel runs, laundry and other duties as required. Shifts are available Monday through Sunday 8:30am - 10:30am at either the Madison or North Branch Facility. Clerical - (Madison location only) Volunteers are needed to assist with mailings, putting together packets, data entry and other clerical duties at our Madison shelter and Dog Training School. Shifts are available Monday through Friday between the hours of 10am and 3pm. Doggy Day Camp Counselor - (Madison location only) Volunteers that are 18 years of age or older are needed to play and go on walks with our Camp Dogs. These dogs are very active, so volunteers should be relatively fit or have a high energy level. This is an outdoor activity and is subject to the weather. All profits of this program benefit the shelter animals. Shifts are available Monday through Friday 7:30am - 10:30am or Monday through Thursday 3pm - 6pm. Event Help - Volunteers are needed throughout the year to help St. Hubert's host a variety of fundraising events. Duties can include distributing fliers, set up, break down, staffing tables, traffic control, registration and more. This is a great opportunity for people available on the weekends or Student Volunteers between the ages of 14 and 17. Feline Friends - (North Branch location only) Feline Friends spend time socializing our shelter cats during one hour shifts, Tuesday through Sunday between the hours of 11am and 3pm. You should be an experienced cat person, 18 years of age or older and very comfortable handling cats. Feline Friends - (Madison location) Current program availability in on Sundays between the hours of 11am and 3pm. Foster Care for Shelter Animals - (Madison and North Branch locations) Volunteers are needed to provide temporary homes for special-case shelter animals that may be sick, too young to thrive in a kennel environment, or need to recover from an injury. Socialization and care are needed to increase the animal's chances for successful placement. Volunteers must have the ability to isolate their shelter guests from pets living in the house. A mandatory training and orientation session will be provided to help you transition into this rewarding program! Humane Education - Certified Paws for People teams and Volunteer Instructors are needed to help teach young children, Brownies, Cub and Girl Scouts basic information about dogs and cats. Programs are held at St. Hubert's and at off-site facilities. Volunteers need to be available one day per week, Monday - Friday, 9am to 4:30om. Volunteers and their pets that have been certified through the Pet Partner course are especially needed. Required: enthusiasm, a sense of humor, valid driver's license, and a car. A background in education is not mandatory. Paws For People Program (Pet Assisted Therapy) - Spend quality time with your pet while sharing your special bond with children and adults in schools, hospitals and day care/long term care facilities. Dogs and cats that are at least one year old and have excellent temperaments are invited to participate. Dogs must know sit, stay, down, come and heel. Other domestic animals can also be evaluated. Wildlife
Volunteer - (Adults only) - help licensed rehabilitators with maintenance of
housing and equipment at a center that cares for orphaned and injured wildlife
with the goal of returning them to the wild. Training is required for
hands-on work with the animals, which is especially needed from March to September. The centers also need
help fundraising, animal transport and clerical work. You can apply
